Conditions we treat

మేము చికిత్స చేసే సమస్యలు

Rheumatology covers a wide range of conditions that affect joints, muscles, bones, and the immune system. Here are the ones we most commonly treat — explained in plain language.

🦴 Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)

An autoimmune condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks the joints, causing pain, swelling and stiffness — especially in the small joints of hands and feet.

Common signs & symptoms

  • Morning stiffness lasting more than 30 minutes
  • Symmetric joint swelling (both hands or both feet)
  • Fatigue and low-grade fever

What you should know

RA is highly treatable today. Early diagnosis and modern medicines (DMARDs, biologics) can prevent joint damage and let people live normal, active lives.

🦵 Osteoarthritis (OA)

The most common type of arthritis — caused by gradual wear and tear of joint cartilage. Most often affects knees, hips and hands as people get older.

Common signs & symptoms

  • Pain that worsens with activity, eases with rest
  • Stiffness after sitting or sleeping
  • Grating or clicking sound in joints

What you should know

OA isn't just "old age" — there's a lot we can do. Lifestyle changes, physiotherapy, medications and targeted joint injections can dramatically improve pain and function.

🦋 Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE)

An autoimmune disease that can affect skin, joints, kidneys, blood and other organs. More common in young women, but anyone can be affected.

Common signs & symptoms

  • Butterfly-shaped rash across the cheeks
  • Joint pain and fatigue
  • Sensitivity to sunlight, mouth ulcers, hair loss

What you should know

Lupus is a lifelong condition but with the right treatment, most patients live full, productive lives. Regular monitoring is the key.

🧍 Ankylosing Spondylitis & Spondyloarthritis

Inflammatory back pain that mainly affects the spine and pelvis. Often starts in late teens or twenties.

Common signs & symptoms

  • Chronic low back pain that improves with exercise
  • Stiffness that's worst in the morning or after rest
  • Buttock pain, eye redness (uveitis)

What you should know

Inflammatory back pain is very different from mechanical back pain — and needs a different treatment. Modern biologic medicines have transformed outcomes in this condition.

🦶 Gout

Caused by uric acid crystals depositing in joints — most often the big toe. Attacks are sudden, intensely painful, and often happen at night.

Common signs & symptoms

  • Sudden, severe pain in one joint (often big toe)
  • Redness, warmth and swelling
  • Attacks may last days, then settle

What you should know

Gout is fully manageable with the right long-term medication and a few diet adjustments. Recurrent attacks are not "normal" — they're a sign treatment needs adjustment.

Psoriatic Arthritis

An inflammatory arthritis that can occur in people with psoriasis (a skin condition). Affects joints, tendons and sometimes the spine.

Common signs & symptoms

  • Swelling of a whole finger or toe ("sausage digit")
  • Nail pitting or changes
  • Back stiffness, heel pain

What you should know

Treating the joint disease early prevents long-term damage. Skin and joint symptoms often improve together with the same medication.

🩸 Vasculitis

A group of conditions where blood vessels become inflamed. Can affect almost any organ in the body.

Common signs & symptoms

  • Unexplained fever, weight loss
  • Skin rashes, especially on the legs
  • Numbness, organ-specific symptoms

What you should know

Vasculitis can be serious but is highly treatable when caught early. Early diagnosis can be life-saving and organ-saving.

🦴 Osteoporosis & Bone Health

"Silent" thinning of bones that increases fracture risk. Especially common after menopause and in older adults.

What you should know

A simple bone density (DEXA) scan can detect risk before a fracture happens. Modern medications can dramatically reduce fracture risk.
